Cowboy Beans

“On the ranch there is a lot of work to be done creating some big appetites. This hearty recipe was passed down to me from my mother and it’s one our family enjoys time after time!”   

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ground beef 
  • 1 small onion, chopped 
  • 6 slices cooked bacon 
  • 2 cans pork & beans 
  • 1 can lima beans, drained 
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained 
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 4 tsp vinegar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

Cooking:

  1. Brown the ground beef & chopped onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat 
  2. Combine ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard and white sugar in a bowl. mix in beans and chopped cooked bacon
  3. Mix together browned hamburger and bean mixture in an oven safe casserole dish
  4. Bake at 350 degree for 45 minutes
